The first movie created in the Star Wars franchise stars Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, an aspiring pilot who undertakes a galactic journey to save the galaxy from evil. Luke is helped by a number of characters on his quest, including the bounty hunter Han Solo and Princess Leia, played by Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher respectively.


The Net is a thriller starring Sandra Bullock as Angela, a computer programmer whose life is literally erased from existence after she stumbles onto a secret technological conspiracy.







Tom Hanks plays Turner, a meticulously groomed, well-organized detective working in a small California coastal town. When local “character” Amos Reed (John McIntire) is murdered, the only witness is Reed’s slobbery, smelly mutt Hooch. Turner assumes Hooch can probably ID the killer and so his is compelled to put the dog up as his (misbehaving) house guest since the dog is too wild for ordinary animal handlers.






This classic horror movie based on Stephen King’s first novel stars Sissy Spacek as Carrie White, a shy, diffident teenager who is the butt of practical jokes at her small-town high school. After getting pushed to the limit on the night of her school’s prom by a humiliating prank, Carrie unleashes a horrifying display of her heretofore minor telekinetic powers.





Vanilla Sky (2001)

Vanilla Sky stars Tom Cruise as David Aames, a successful owner of a publishing firm. David’s life is perfect – he is wealthy, attractive, and has women throwing themselves at him. He even has a stalker-girlfriend Julie, played by Cameron Diaz. David soon meets Sofia, played by Penelope Cruz, a friend of a friend who he instantly falls in love with, much to the chagrin of Julie. Julie goes into crazy stalker mode and attempts to kill both herself and David in a car accident – however, David survives, albeit with terrible injuries. The rest of the film narrates his recovery from the traumatic incident and how it affects his personal life.





Halloween (1978)

A psychotic murderer institutionalized since childhood for the murder of his sister, escapes and stalks a bookish teenage girl and her friends while his doctor chases him through the streets.  








School of Rock (2003)

A wannabe rock star in need of cash poses as a substitute teacher teacher at a prep school, and tries to turn his class into a rock band. 










Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987)

Neal Page is a man who just wants to get home for Thanksgiving. After a series of unfortunate events he finds himself searching for other means of transportation home for the holidays with only an obnoxious slob of a shower ring salesman as his companion.






Dazed and Confused (1993)

The adventures of incoming high school and junior high students on the last day of school, in May 1976.
